Beta.... Well not really!

Hey Guys,

Welcome back to my blog, It's been a long week, thank god we only have one more week left!

So all week I have been working on my game, unfortunately I got the code working but I have way to many errors popping up which means it wont make my character move! My coins are working, my wind-zone is working and so is my sky-box but the most important bloody part wont! I have created so many different character and entered the code which is needed for each of them and none of them will work!

I also think one of my problems is that my world is too large with to many different effects going on through out it. I know what your going to say... "delete some of it" but that is not an option as I lost my first game and had to start it all over again so honestly I am petrified to touch it and delete things I don't really need.

As you can see from my images above it is a huge world, I have a character and I have my coins in place my world. I am still currently working on my score box. Altogether I have 58 coins dotted around in different areas of my world. If my first game didn't delete itself I would have more but unfortunately with a week to go I am extremely stuck for time!

I know I am writing this blog post very early but over the weekend I plan on trying to get my character to move and also make a score box, also I have twenty million different things to do so it was better to get this blog post out of the way now so i am not stressing on Sunday!

Anyway guys, next Wednesday I hope I will have a game I can present and play for you.

Until then!

  1. Hi Liz

I just finished reading your week 11 project blog post and have to say that I am amazed with how good your Unity game is coming along. I especially like how your world is now looking as it looks really detailed and you can tell you put a lot of work into it overall. Have you considered compressing down the world a bit as it is quite large and looks as if it takes a lot to keep it maintained, as for the character movements I unfortunately have had no luck myself in that part but I am sure there are plenty of Unity tutorials for all versions of the program that will help you with that issue. Overall your world is looking great and I cant wait to get to try it for myself. Best of luck with the coding issue and all the best.

  2. Hey Liz,

Well done on bouncing back after losing your first game. It's so difficult to redo something after you've already put so much effort in, but you managed it, and have gotten to a good place.

Using Unity Characters and getting them to move is such a pain to do right. One thing you could try is using the 3D Character from the Unity Standard assets pack. Once you add him to your scene he's coded and ready to go. It might just work so that you have a moving character so that the rest of your hard work can be shown off.

Hope it goes well for you!

  3. Hi Liz,

First of all, well done to you for continuing on with your game with such an ambitious attitude. I would say that it was difficult to stay in that mindset after losing your game. Well, look at it now! Extremely impressive.

The detail that you have added to this game is so impressive. It definitely is huge, so I can only imagine the amount of time you've spent on that. Unfortunately, I have absolutely no clue how to help with the character's movement as the C# coding is just a completely alien language to me. You've probably already tried this, but just in the case that you haven't, try deleting the character completely along with all of its scripts and start again. The coding for movement isn't that long and hopefully, that will make sure there are no bugs present in the game.

I can't wait to see your presentation on Wednesday!

  4. Hey liz

Your game is looking great so far especially after hearing that you lost your game once before. It looks like you put a lot of work into your game and it must have taken a long time to make.

I like the screenshots you took of your game it is a great way to show people what game looks like. I like how big your map is it looks great it must have taken you a while to make the map. I also like the character design.

Have you consider adding multiple levels to the game or have certain parts of the map locked off so the more you find the items in the game the more you will progress through the game.

Overall your game is great and is huge so it’s very impress and you will get a good grade for it. I hope you have no more trouble with the game good luck.

Introduction to me being me!

I never know how to write about myself. I always feel so embarrassed and I don't know why😅 Like last year when Margret asked us to do a video about ourselves, I wanted to cry as I never know what to say about myself without sounding big headed! So here comes the cringe fest.... My name is Elizabeth, I am 23 years old and I was born and bred in Maynooth. It is a nice a place but now its just full of college students who are taking over (I know i'm a college student but these people are from the country you know)😂.           I still live at home with my mum and recently my boyfriend Dan has moved in with us as well. I have a sister Meaghan who is getting married next year to her fiancee Lesley. In the last couple of years we have also gotten in contact with my half sister, so our family just keeps on growing which is great.  We are a very close family and I wouldn't have it any other way. I am very lucky to have such amazing people to be there for me when ever I need

Game Design Document

Hi Guys, Welcome back to my blog, today I will be talking about my game design document. I use Dunroc to build a basic document which you can view  here . For my Game Design Document I am going to focus on the important parts of the game. First one is Story. The story behind the game is the most important part as you can't have a game without a story line. My story is about the player, they can create their own character and build their city to what ever way they want too. They have to do certain tasks everyday to earn money to buy things. My game will be a single player game. The aim of the game is to gain experience, unlock different levels and build an empire.  Second one is Characters . The player can have multiple characters if they would like, its all up to them. They can design what the character is going to look like too from their clothing to body type to hair style. Everything! I want the player to have fun creating there own world. Each character will ha
