Alpha

Hi Guys,

Welcome back to my blog, today I will be talking about Alpha within my game. This is going to be a quick blog post as I stupidly left my laptop charger in college and my laptop is slowly dying so I need to get this done asap!

So the alpha within my game... I have no idea what that means.

Now that I have looked it up I know that is means features and elements that are finished. Unfortunately I am still slowly getting there with my game. I am still moving different things around but I have the Sky box complete and I am happy with how that looks. I have majority of my paths made for my trail. I still need to add the water and walls and different gems within my game but over all I am happy with my process.

I still have 2/3 weeks to complete my game so I don't want to rush it and I will have it finished by the deadline. After speaking to Shaun and explaining that my game will not be playable he gave me great advice to screen record my game and do a voice over and explain what I want my game to be like so when my world is finished I will be doing that.

Overall I am happy with my process as I keep ticking along at it and looking forward to seeing my final product.

  1. Hi Liz!

Wow your game is coming along fantastic! Oh no you left your charger in college, unfortunate that you chose this weekend to do that lol.

Your game is looking like its coming amazingly! How are you finding doing unity other than what you have mentioned ? I am struggling with the code bad !!

But good luck in finishing your game cant wait to play it!

  2. Hey Liz,

Your game looks great! As I read through all your project blogs, I think you were right to simplify your game. I loved the idea of creating my own world, but as a beginner game developer I understand why you decided to go for an easier route. The current game you're working on looks great though! In the screenshots you've posted of your Unity so far, I can clearly see the detail you've put into the world you're making.

We have a similar game idea, where we're collecting gems throughout a virtual world. Do you plan on having any form of conflict in your game? Any villains stopping you from getting the gems? What happens when you collect a certain amount?

You've made really good progress and I'm looking forward to seeing the end product. Best of luck!

  3. Well a good day to you Elizabeth!!!

Well well well I am truly very impressed with what you have made in your game progress and that you have a great effort in your alpha build of your game concept and I must say that it looks excellent indeed.

If I have one question to ask you about your concept and it is in relation to your time. I know that you have at least another 3 weeks left but I want to know how much do you still have to implement into your game because I don’t want ya to overwhelm and overwork yourself (or anyone at all to do so)

I would give ya some stuff to implement into your concept but I think that you have enough already added to your but I won’t need to because you have a great amount of effort and have put a lot in already.

All in all I look forward to seeing how the final product turns out (with how much you have made in the process) because no matter how much you get done it will be great no matter what.

    Cheerio!!!

Introduction to me being me!

I never know how to write about myself. I always feel so embarrassed and I don't know why😅 Like last year when Margret asked us to do a video about ourselves, I wanted to cry as I never know what to say about myself without sounding big headed! So here comes the cringe fest.... My name is Elizabeth, I am 23 years old and I was born and bred in Maynooth. It is a nice a place but now its just full of college students who are taking over (I know i'm a college student but these people are from the country you know)😂.           I still live at home with my mum and recently my boyfriend Dan has moved in with us as well. I have a sister Meaghan who is getting married next year to her fiancee Lesley. In the last couple of years we have also gotten in contact with my half sister, so our family just keeps on growing which is great.  We are a very close family and I wouldn't have it any other way. I am very lucky to have such amazing people to be there for me when ever I need

Game Design Document

Hi Guys, Welcome back to my blog, today I will be talking about my game design document. I use Dunroc to build a basic document which you can view  here . For my Game Design Document I am going to focus on the important parts of the game. First one is Story. The story behind the game is the most important part as you can't have a game without a story line. My story is about the player, they can create their own character and build their city to what ever way they want too. They have to do certain tasks everyday to earn money to buy things. My game will be a single player game. The aim of the game is to gain experience, unlock different levels and build an empire.  Second one is Characters . The player can have multiple characters if they would like, its all up to them. They can design what the character is going to look like too from their clothing to body type to hair style. Everything! I want the player to have fun creating there own world. Each character will ha

Beta.... Well not really!

Hey Guys, Welcome back to my blog, It's been a long week, thank god we only have one more week left!  So all week I have been working on my game, unfortunately I got the code working but I have way to many errors popping up which means it wont make my character move! My coins are working, my wind-zone is working and so is my sky-box but the most important bloody part wont! I have created so many different character and entered the code which is needed for each of them and none of them will work!  I also think one of my problems is that my world is too large with to many different effects going on through out it. I know what your going to say... "delete some of it" but that is not an option as I lost my first game and had to start it all over again so honestly I am petrified to touch it and delete things I don't really need.  (screenshot from my own unity)  (screenshot of my own unity) (screenshot of my own unity) As you can see from
