Reading 3 - The Start of Research for my Topic!

Hey Guys,

Welcome back to my blog, this week I have been researching my two topics which I talked about in my last blog post. I am not going to lie I am still trying to get my head around the referencing and finding it difficult finding article which would be beneficial to me and my research.

Anyway I started with making my folders, this is to make sure everything is organised correctly and I don't forget about important documents and articles I have read with valuable information which I could use in the future. This look some time as I had to make different grids within the folders but I am happy it is now done.

I then went onto using google scholar to help me search for documents, here I ran into a bit of difficulty but soon resolved it and got back on track.

The first thing I looked up was "What is level design" i found this article  An Architectural Approach to Level Design. By looking at the different heading this showed there was a lot I could learn from this book as it also has information about the "Key Principles" which is my second topic I will be researching.

I found many articles such as Beginning Game Level Design. I have saved all these PDF's to my laptop and also made a document to which has the chapter and page of the reverent information that I will need.

Overall I have found this research challenging but I am looking forward to searching deeper within my topics to finding more information which I can use.

Until next week!

My First Game Brainstorm.

https://www.123rf.com/photo_83383233_close-up-of-notepad-with-creative-brainstorm-sketch-and-colorful-pencils-brainstorming-concept.html Hi Guys, Welcome back to my blog, in today's blog post I will be telling you guys about my ideas for my video game. When I think about making a game I think it needs to be a game that everyone will enjoy. After having a look around the internet I know have a good idea of what my four possible games could be. Game 1:  For my first game I would like it to be similar to The Sims 4. The Sim was first released back in 2000. It has many different versions of the game which has made this game the "best selling video game series of all time". https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Sims  . I have always like the idea of being able to build your own imaginary life on a video game, from personalizing your characters, to building your own houses/business, to earning money, to having relationships/friendships within this video world. Introduction to me being me!

I never know how to write about myself. I always feel so embarrassed and I don't know why😅 Like last year when Margret asked us to do a video about ourselves, I wanted to cry as I never know what to say about myself without sounding big headed! So here comes the cringe fest.... My name is Elizabeth, I am 23 years old and I was born and bred in Maynooth. It is a nice a place but now its just full of college students who are taking over (I know i'm a college student but these people are from the country you know)😂.           I still live at home with my mum and recently my boyfriend Dan has moved in with us as well. I have a sister Meaghan who is getting married next year to her fiancee Lesley. In the last couple of years we have also gotten in contact with my half sister, so our family just keeps on growing which is great.  We are a very close family and I wouldn't have it any other way. I am very lucky to have such amazing people to be there for me ...

Unity 6

Hi Guys, Welcome back to my blog, for today I will be talking about a new set of unity tutorials which are extremely long!! I really did enjoy these tutorials as it was a new set of them so more to learn, I know I keep saying this but this semesters unity is so much better then last semester I really really like them! Anyway lets talk about unity! I found these sets of tutorials very easy which is a good thing as it means I am getting the hang of things!  We started by adding a background and picking our character, we then began to add some code for the player to control the character.  (screenshot of my code) (Screenshot of character jumping)  We then added an obstacle for the character to jump over. I found by following the tutorials the code is getting easier. Overall I am really happy with my progress on unity! Anyway until next week -Elizabeth
